OFFICIALS HOPE DRUGSTORE WILL SPUR DEVELOPMENT.(CAPITAL REGION)

ALBANY -- An 11,000-square-foot drugstore soon will replace the now-vacant former School 10 and an adjacent parking lot at the corner of North Lake and Central avenues, city officials announced Monday.

Mayor Jerry Jennings is negotiating to sell the city-owned building to Lyndi Development Corp. for about $850,000, officials said. Pending approval of the Common Council and the Zoning and Planning Boards, the corporation will begin tearing down the former school within a few months and will construct an Eckerd drugstore in its place.
